Grand Canyon

The Grand Canyon—certainly one of the most inspiring landscapes on Earth—is filled with colorful rock layers. Its history goes back nearly two billion years to when landmasses collided, forming the basement of the canyon. About 70 million years ago, the area rose from sea level to thousands of feet, creating the Colorado Plateau that was later carved by the Colorado River. The most scenic areas of the Grand Canyon can be found right along this river corridor.
