The Wave
The Wave is an extraordinary sandstone rock formation situated on the slopes of the Coyote Buttes in the Paria Canyon-Vermilion Cliffs Wilderness of northern Arizona. Dating back to the Jurassic period, approximately 190 million years ago, this intersecting U-shaped trough was formed by the erosion of Navajo sandstone dunes that compacted into undulating, calcified rock layers over eons.
